ABOUT US

We are a very mixed group of people of all ages, many ethnic origins and different life circumstances, but what we share is a common Christian faith and a wish to grow towards God as revealed through the life, death and resurrection of Christ. Together we seek to grow in faith, in discipleship and in service of our fellow human beings, recognising that they, like us, are made in the image and likeness of God. We don't of course always get it right! But we share the journey together through sharing worship and encounter with God in the eucharist, knowing ourselves forgiven by the God who loved us so much that he sent his Son into the world for our sakes.

WHERE ARE WE?

The Parish church is situated just south of the River Thames very near to New Covent Garden market and opposite Vauxhall Park. The Church is close by to Vauxhall Cross which has overground (Waterloo line) and underground connections (Victoria Line) as well as a major bus terminus. Bus routes 88 and 2 pass by the church on the South Lambeth Road whilst the 77,77a and 196 go close by on the Wandsworth Road.

WHO IS WHO?

We usually have two priests, a vicar and an honorary curate.  However, we are currently going through an interregnum and Revd Olufunke Ogbede is our 'self-supporting minister', that is, a priest who is in employment elsewhere, and who offers her ministry voluntarily to the church. Contact details are given below.

We also have a SPA or 'Southwark Pastoral Auxiliary' on the team, Caroline Gibson. SPAs are volunteers commissioned by the Bishop to offer support and care on behalf of the church. After two years of training Caroline was commissioned in July 2007. As well as being involved in general pastoral care, she will also be taking on particular pieces of work or projects.

The lay leadership is led by the churchwardens, Damilola and Charles. The other officers of the church are the Treasurer, Norman, and the PCC Secretary, Sasha. Contact details are given below.

The church is managed by the Vicar, Churchwardens, and Parochial Church Council (the PCC). Each year there are elections for the church wardens and PCC in April when members decide who should serve. To become a member you need to be on the electoral roll. If you would like to join, please ask for a form. If you live within the parish you are entitled to be on it as of right. If you live outside the parish you should worship here for 6 months before joining.

St Anne and All Saints is part of the Church of England, in the diocese of Southwark. The diocese pays for our vicar, but in turn we have to make a contribution to those costs and maintain the church buildings. So we are largely self-financing and rely on regular contributions from the congregation.

If you would like to make a regular commitment to our finances, we operate two different systems. First, there are envelopes, dated for each Sunday in the year in which you can make a regular payment each week (whether you are able to get to church each week or not). Secondly, some people prefer to make a payment by standing order. Forms for both are available. Just ask one of the churchwardens.
