WELCOME

St Anne and All Saints is the parish church for the area between Vauxhall Bridge and Stockwell tube station in London. We are in a very mixed area of London and we aim to reflect this by welcoming people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and family situations into our community as we seek, together, to grow towards God.

This website will tell you a bit more about us. If you would like to know more, please send an email or, still better, if you are in the area, join us one Sunday. There is a warm welcome for everyone.

OUR MISSION

We are a local community church which strives to:

  • worship in this holy place
  • love people into the kingdom of God
  • deepen our discipleship and faith
  • be inclusive and welcoming
  • value and celebrate diversity

A BRIEF HISTORY

In the 1700s most of Vauxhall was a marshland. People had to cross this marsh in order to get to church at St Mary's next to Lambeth Palace. The route across the marsh was a dangerous and hostile one where robbers laid in wait and attacked people crossing the marsh. This made people somewhat reluctant to attend church. They petitioned for the right to build their own church and in 1793 a church was built which eventually became the parish church in 1869 and the Parish of Saint Anne was created. Damaged in World War II, the church we rebuilt internally in 1959 with the church at the top of the building and the hall underneath.
